Lombok, a magic island located just east of Bali, offers a blend of natural beauty, local culture, and a laid-back atmosphere. Known for its friendly locals, stunning landscapes, and fewer crowds than Bali, but the biggest draw to the island is the surf scene.
South Lombok boasts an abundance of breaks with mellow waves, making it an ideal destination for surfers at all skill levels. Beginners can feel at ease with the gentle waves, while seasoned surfers can explore more challenging breaks that South Lombok has in store. This website focuses on surfing South Lombok spots catering for beginners to advanced surfers. Lombok is also home to the famous Desert Point break, an expert barreling left-hand wave, often considered one of the best and most challenging left-hand breaks in the world.
Unlike some surfing destinations that are seasonal, Lombok surf provides waves all year round. During the wet season, spanning from October to April, prevailing offshore winds create optimal conditions, and most surf breaks are in full swing.
Even during the dry season, from May to September, Lombok continues to offer up great surf. While the prevailing conditions may differ, there are several protected spots along the coast (check out Mawi Surf Spot, Ekas Bay Surf Spots, Gerupuk Surf Spots).
